About BEN

Ben is a renowned global design leader recognised for his transformative work in brand development, societal impact and company culture. In 2020, he launched R/GA APAC’s Brand Design & Consulting Practice (BDC) with a mission to create meaningful brands for businesses and organizations. Under his leadership, BDC has cultivated a diverse and innovative team of visual, verbal, and strategy designers, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance. The practice has achieved remarkable growth, expanding by over 80% year-on-year.

Ben's focus lies in designing brands that align with a more human-centric future and exploring opportunities for social impact. BDC's impactful and globally acclaimed projects include We Are Warriors, an award-winning platform celebrating Blak excellence and inspiring the next generation, and the Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA), which has created a significant cultural identity for Sydney. BDC's work also extends to initiatives like uniting male and female soccer competitions under the gender-neutral banner of The A-Leagues, developing TimbTrails, an immersive web-based experience for a digitally connected generation, and for Energetics, Australia's largest and oldest specialist energy and climate risk advisory company, uniting for a 1.5oC world.

Ben believes in the power of combining optimism and realism for effective problem-solving and envisions a future where the best ideas emerge from understanding human behaviour and employing lateral thinking.

Throughout his career, Ben has made a lasting impact on brands across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, including Telstra, IGA, Westpac, SKY NZ, Foxtel, and more. He has received both local and global recognition for his design contributions, including the prestigious 'Bill Bernbach Award for Creative Brilliance' from DDB. In 2018, Fast Company honored him with a 'World Changing Ideas' award for the project G’ AY MATE, created in support of the Marriage Equality debate in Australia. In 2023, "We Are Warriors" earned two D&AD Yellow Pencils and a Cannes Lions award for the documentary "Through the Fire."
